Coco Moon, a Mexican- and Asian-style eatery, will soon fill the former BrewDog taproom and restaurant that closed in June 2025. It is located at 316 Reading Road and is expected to open in October.
Cincinnati real estate agent Neil Neff signed the lease for the 8,500-square-foot space in July. 3CRE’s Sina Danesh represented Neff in the deal, while Mike Costantini, also with 3CRE, represented the landlord.
Coco Moon will be open seven days a week, from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. weekdays and from 11 a.m.-2:30 a.m. on weekends.
Neff, who also owns Los Patrones, a Mexican restaurant in Delhi Township, told me he chose to open Coco Moon inside the BrewDog space because of its unique layout.
Its square footage also ranks it among the largest restaurant spaces in the city’s urban core. Jeff Ruby’s is bigger, at around 12,000 square feet, and the new Fountain Square Skyline has about 9,000.
“It’s got a mezzanine; it has a rooftop. The rooftop, in my opinion, is one of the nicest ones in Cincinnati,” he said. “It also has a decent area to where we could focus on nightlife after dinner ends and people can have cocktails and dance if they want to or just hang out.”
Coco Moon will serve a variety of Hispanic and Asian cuisines, such as birria tacos, traditional quesadillas and burritos, in addition to Asian dishes like pad thai and General Tso’s chicken.
Neff said he also plans to offer a VIP service area, possibly in the mezzanine to give customers a more elevated dining experience.
“Other cities do it, but it’s not as common in Cincinnati,” he said. “It would have a good feel to do something like that for people that want to have more of a little private area to still just kind of be out and about and enjoying the night.”
Danesh told me it was important to find a tenant like Coco Moon that could fully activate and sustain the massive space.
“Coco Moon fills a real need by providing additional food options for Pendleton’s growing daytime workforce while also creating a destination that attracts evening visitors,” Danesh said. “Their unique concept will not only bring new energy to the neighborhood but also provide a welcoming place for Cincinnati’s Hispanic community to gather, enjoy great food, music and dancing.”
Coco Moon will join several other restaurants and bars in the Pendleton area such as Lucius Q, Bar Saeso, Cantina and more. BrewDog was the subject of an unpaid rent lawsuit following its abrupt closure, for which a Hamilton County Common Pleas judge granted the landlord default judgment and an award of $616,866 plus late fees.
